Photocopies and Information for Electronic Course Reserves (ERes)

Photocopies for Electronic Reserves (ERes)

ERes copies to be submitted for scanning -

  • must include a notice of copyright: i.e., © year of publication, name of copyright holder, and a full bibliographic reference (author, title, journal title, or book publisher, and date) on the first page.
  • should be paper clipped or alternately stacked preferably in the order of need.
  • should be high quality, SINGLE-SIDED copies. The better quality photocopy you provide the cleaner it will appear on screen.

To obtain a high quality copy

  • do copy single sided.
  • do make the copy actual sized -- any reduction in size causes distortion.
  • do copy with high contrast -- light ink (text) or dark backgrounds muddy the image.

Submitting Requests

In addition to the above, all electronic reserve requests must be accompanied by an ERes request form. The forms must have complete course information as well as bibliographic information for each article. If possible, please include a copy of your syllabus. Keep in mind that we can also link to e-journals. If you have the link to a particular reading, please include it in the URL box provided. You can access the request form at: http://www.jcu.edu/library/servform/E_ResReq.doc This is a link to another web site

Request forms and course materials can be dropped of at the library circulation desk. ERes materials can also be sent through campus mail c/o Adam Green.

Copyright Responsibilities

The library will seek permission on behalf of the instructor and will cover copyright clearance charges up to $300 per instructor/per course/per semester. Fees above that limit will be the responsibility of the requesting instructor's department. Though most courses do not exceed the set fees, you will be contacted about high cost permission requests so that other options can be explored.
