Building GuideUpper Level -- Third FloorThe library's Electronic Classroom is on this level in Grasselli in the southeast corner overlooking the main drive. This room features twenty computers and an instructor's station. The Curriculum Collection is at the far end of this room at the opposite end of the reading room. A small collection of Children's Literature is housed here as well. Special Collections are housed in the G. K. Chesterton Room at the top of the main staircase. The Room is named in honor of English writer G. K. Chesterton. The library has one of the largest collections of Chesterton materials in the United States. We also have a fine collection of local history materials in the John R. Carpenter Cleveland Collection. This collection honors Mr. Carpenter's many contributions to John Carroll during a long career of teaching in JCU's Sociology Department (1953-89), including the development of a course on the history of the Western Reserve.
Down the corridor from Special Collections, visitors will find the Slovak Heritage Room
The main feature of the Breen wing on this level is the Muer Room, a large and comfortable space for reading and study. The Popular Reading Collection is shelved at one end of this area, and the St. Francis Xavier Spiritual Reading Corner is at the opposite end. Materials in these collections are intended to provide reading alternatives to the library's main collections. Titles in either collection are listed in Carrolline, the electronic catalog. Funding for both collections is provided by the Friends of Grasselli Library & Breen Learning Center Circulating books with call numbers H through PQ are on this level in the Grasselli building. Circulating books with call numbers PR through V are on this level in the Breen wing.
