Education Statistics

Almanac of American Education (Ref LA217.2 .A45)
Provides national coverage of school enrollment and educational attainment. Attainment levels are presented by race, occupation, and industry, and cover both high school and college attainment. State-level statistics provide average SAT and ACT scores; per-student expenditures; private and public school enrollment; student poverty; public school teacher salaries; teacher characteristics; and regional comparative data. County-level statistics include information on student/teacher ratios; free lunch eligibility; numbers of students and graduates; attainment levels; per-student expenditures; and dropout rates.

Digest of Education Statistics
Provides a compilation of statistical information covering the broad field of American education from prekindergarten through graduate school. It contains information on a variety of subjects in the field of education statistics, including the number of schools and colleges, teachers, enrollments, and graduates, in addition to educational attainment, finances, federal funds for education, libraries, and international education.

Education Statistics Quarterly
Offers a comprehensive overview of work done across all of National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Each issue includes short publications and summaries covering all NCES publications and data products released in a given time period as well as notices about training and funding opportunities. In addition, each issue includes a featured topic with invited commentary, and a note on the topic from NCES.

Educational Attainment
Provides national estimates of educational attainment from 1947 to present, with limited detail for states and some metropolitan areas.

Indicators of School Crime and Safety
Presents the most recent data available on school crime and student safety.

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)
The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System or IPEDS, is the core postsecondary education data collection program for the National Center for Education Statistics. IPEDS collects standardized data from all institutions of higher education that receive federal student financial assistance.

National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), located within the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences, is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education.

Projections of Education Statistics
Provides projections for key education statistics, including enrollment, graduates, teachers, and expenditures in elementary and secondary schools. It includes the national data on enrollment and graduates for the past 15 years and projections to the next 10 years. It also includes the projections on enrollment in public elementary and secondary schools and public high school graduates to the next 10 years at the state level.

The Condition of Education
The Condition of Education is a congressionally mandated report that provides an annual portrait of education in the United States. The 40+ indicators included in the report cover all aspects of education, from early childhood through postsecondary education and from student achievement to school environment and resources.
